Scranton Plastic Lamination Corporation is Acquired
Menasha acquires Scranton Plastics Laminating Corporation of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Scranton Plastics, which was a competitor of Menasha's Poly Hi division and produced UHMW, is now part of the Poly Hi Solidur Group.

Menasha Transport Incorporated is Created
imageMenasha converts its fleet of trucks to an interstate common carrier, Menasha Transport, Inc., when it sees an opportunity for additional earnings and reduce the amount of empty time by transporting goods for other companies. The first trucks are painted green, gold and white to provide greater visibility and resemble the company's boxcars of the early 1900s. Today's Menasha Transport trucks are no longer green, but continue to provide visibility of the company's logo.

A corrugated box plant is built in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

A wood fiber plant is built in Marysville, Washington.

Traex is Acquired
imageTraex Corporation of Dane, Wisconsin, is acquired and becomes the Traex Division. A manufacturer of reusable plastic products for the food service industry, Traex offers Menasha another entree into the plastic industry. Products such as trays, napkin holders, salt and pepper shakers, and sugar dispensers are sold in the United States and abroad.

Menasha's Poly Hi Division Expands to Asia
Menasha's Poly Hi Division expands to Asia, forming a joint venture with Tsutsunaka Plastic Industry Company Ltd. in Japan.

Neenah Printing Company is Acquired
imageMenasha acquires Neenah Printing of Neenah, Wisconsin, and its subsidiary, Oshkosh Printers, Inc. Menasha considers the acquisition another opportunity to diversify. Founded in 1900, the Neenah Printing Division provides a full range of services in commercial, business forms and packaging applications.

Murfin is Acquired
imageMurfin Inc. of Columbus, Ohio, is acquired. Murfin is a printer of label and identity products. Founded in 1938, Murfin started by screen printing decals and have now expanded into an array of printed plastic products. It makes touch screens for items, such as microwaves and ranges.

Menasha's Poly Hi Division Expands to Europe
Menasha's Poly Hi Division expands to Europe with the startup of a plant in Scunthorpe, England.

FL Industries' Thermotech Division is Acquired
imageMenasha acquires the Thermotech Division of FL Industries. Founded in the late 1940s, Thermotech is a leader in the precision injection molding of thermoplastic and thermoset engineered resins. Today, Thermotech operates from three plants in Minnesota, Florida, and Texas, and makes high performance plastic components for companies in the automotive, medical, electronics and other businesses.

Colonial Container is Acquired
Colonial Container Company of Green Lake, Wisconsin, is acquired. It produces corrugated boxes and is a part of today's Packaging Group.

Menasha acquires Labelcraft Corporation, which becomes the Farmingdale, New Jersey, plant of Menasha's Promotional and Information Graphics Group.
